How a Traveling Executive Lost 38 Pounds in 100 Days Without Giving Up Fast Food Trips Overseas
A high blood sugar number at a routine checkup was enough to get Andy moving. In 100 days he dropped from 212 pounds to 174, all while traveling internationally for work and raising two teenage sons. Coach Brian breaks down exactly how he did it.
Andy's Wake-Up Call: 212 Pounds and Rising Blood Sugar
Andy travels the world for his work in outerwear insulation. He is a husband and a father of two teenage boys. At his yearly checkup, his doctor flagged his blood sugar as high. Diabetes started to feel like a real threat.
That number was the moment Andy decided to act. He was 212 pounds at the time.
What Andy Tried Before The Call to Rise
Before he reached out to Brian, Andy searched Google and asked AI tools to build him a meal plan. Neither one worked. He needed someone to walk him through the answers, not hand him a list.
Before he started, Andy ate fast food three or four times a week. One fast food meal alone often ran close to 2,000 calories. He rarely hit more than 5,000 to 7,000 steps a day.
The Simple System: 10,000 Steps and Calories Under 1,800
Brian and Andy kept the plan simple. Andy walked a minimum of 10,000 steps a day. He kept his calories under 1,800 most days. He ate regular meals with controlled portions instead of skipping and overeating later.
Andy had daily contact with Brian and joined weekly calls with a community of other men doing the same work. In 100 days he went from 212 pounds to 174 pounds. That is 38 pounds gone.
Eating Real Food on the Road: The Chicken and Rice Strategy
Andy's job sends him overseas often, including trips to China. When he travels internationally, he sticks to chicken, rice, and bottled water. That simple pattern keeps his diet intact even when the local food options do not fit his plan.
On domestic trips he leans on the same principle. Eat the right protein in the right amount.
Skipping Vegetables, Getting Fiber From Fruit Instead
Andy does not eat vegetables. Brian tried more than once to work them into his plan and it never stuck. Instead, Andy gets his fiber from fruit: apples, oranges, grapes, and bananas. He eats fruit daily alongside his protein and carbs.
Brian's rule for every client is that the plan has to fit a real life, not force a habit that will not last.
The Million Step Challenge Andy Didn't Know He Started
Around day 89, Andy pointed out that 100 days of 10,000 steps a day adds up to 1 million steps. That comment became the seed of the "million step challenge" Brian now uses with other clients. Andy's consistency motivated other men in the program. A client named Danny started pushing harder on his own step count because of it.
Losing Weight Through the Holidays and Into Maintenance
Andy lost the weight during a stretch that included the holiday season. He kept his system in place through it and kept losing. Since finishing the 100 days, he has moved into weight maintenance. He says maintenance is far easier to sustain than the initial fat loss phase.
Why Andy Says the Biggest Barrier Was Never Time
Andy said the hardest part was believing he had the time to commit. Once he started, he found he could stay in daily contact with Brian and still get everything else done. His advice to anyone in his old position: stop waiting for the right moment and start now.
